UK issues travel advisory for visiting BD

LONDON : British High Commission in Dhaka has issued an emergency warning to its citizens and asked to exercise cautions while traveling Bangladesh in the backdrop of country’s ongoing political agitations.
The disclosure came from a press release issued by the British High Commission. The authority has also sent the press note to different media houses in Bangladesh.
According to the press note, The UK High Commission expressed deep concern over the ongoing political unrest enforced by the opposition BNP and its like minded parties protesting the disappearance of its central leader Elias Ali.
In an "emergency message`` to its citizens the UK said, “Citizens traveling or residing in Bangladesh are strongly encouraged to maintain a high level of vigilance, remain aware of their surroundings, monitor local news reports, avoid crowded places and take appropriate steps to bolster their personal security.``
Meanwhile, the authority asked British nationals to avoid any crowded places during the evening hours as many subversive acts were being conducted after evening.
According to a report, some 75 thousand British tourists visit Bangladesh every year.
Sources said many Bangladeshi expatriates in UK decided not to visit their home land this year apprehending lack of security.
